Bringing in the new year…..

As a reminder, for the first month of the new year we’re inviting buddies to join us in Milsons Point, Avoca Beach, Burwood, Brooklyn, Mona Vale, Merrylands and Kirrawee.

We’ll be meeting up for a trip to the art markets, for fish and chips on the beach and our 35-and-over catch ups return, while the Chinatown Markets, one of two brewery stop offs, and a night of delicious desserts are also on the cards.

"I’ve been having a great time with my gig buddy…."

And finally, each and every month we share news from those who make up our user-led team, Soul Fly Buddies.

This time it’s the turn of Bevan, who tells us more about healthy eating, buddy catch ups and shooting a movie.

“I’ve been having a great time with my gig buddy, Kathy. Recently she took me to Sculptures by the Sea in Bondi. It was amazing and interesting. They all looked really cool. It was a beautiful walk. We walked a long way. We took heaps of photos. I really loved the spaceman sculpture. The ocean in the background was like a movie. And then after we had Korean BBQ for dinner, it was so delicious.

This year I have been working on a short film script with my carer. And we have finally finished the first draft which I am really excited about. I can’t wait to start shooting it and show everyone. I would love to show the whole planet my films.

This month I have been trying to also continue my journey to eat more healthy. My carer has been helping me and teaching me to grocery shop and cook meals. I love to learn to cook at home because I want to develop my independence and also try and save money instead of eating out all the time. I can be lazy sometimes but one day when I live on my own, I’d like to be on top of all that. I hope to prepare myself for the future.

And just this weekend I went to Cockatoo Island at night to go on the tour to learn about the convicts and the buildings which i was very interested in. I heard there were ghosts there and haunted houses but I didn’t see any and It didn’t feel scary. People should check it out, it's very interesting.”
