What are Gig Buddies Group Social Events?

Gig Buddies group social events are hosted by the GB team so that all signed-up participants and volunteers in the Gig Buddies project can catch up and do fun stuff in a group setting. 

Monthly group social events are held all over Metro Sydney and Central Coast. 

The main focus of the Gig Buddies project is to "buddy-up" participants and volunteers so they can catch up and go to their own events together.

Gig Buddies group social events are a "bonus" way for participants to meet people and socialise.

All group social events are run as "not-for-profit".

 Participants only pay for a group social event if they need to cover the cost of admission tickets, venue hire and/or catering.

Group social events are included* as part of being in the Gig Buddies project. 

* participants pay for their own food and drinks  (unless a catered event)

Tell me about the gig:

Enjoy a night on Sydney Harbour taking in all the lights of Vivid.

We will be cruising on The Majistic Two hosted by Australian Cruise Group.

This is a public event.

*There will be one Gig Buddies staff member for up to 20 attendees (participants and volunteers combined). If you need extra support, please let us know if you plan on bringing a support worker/support person with you to this event.


When: Friday the 13th of June

What time do we meet? 7:30pm ( departs at 7:45pm)

What time does it end? 9:30pm returns
* there are no stops

Cost: $33

Unfortunately they do not accept the companion card for this event but they have given us all a discount.

How do I get there?
You can walk from Wynyard or Town hall station.

I will give further instructions once we are allocated the wharf

Food:

There will be no food to purchase on the boat, they only serve drinks.

You can BYO snacks only.

Please have dinner before meeting us.

Dress code:

Smart casual clothing. Sensible shoes for a boat. Dress warm as it is usually cold on the water.

What else do I need to bring?

  • Money for food / drinks
  • ID this is an 18+ event
  • Don’t forget your Opal card if catching public transport
  • Phone for pictures and finding staff
  • Warm clothing for the evening and weather appropriate gear for example an umbrella if it's predicted to rain.

Accessibility:

Unfortunately the boat is not wheelchair accessible.

There will be lot's of crowds in the city during Vivid. Please keep this in mind for before and after the event. You could bring with you for support : Fidget spinners or sensory toys.Or organise a support worker for 1:1 support.

There will be bright lights and noise. You could bring with you for support: Noise cancelling headphones or glasses

The boat departs at 7:45pm and returns at 9:30pm There will be no stops in between. So ensure you feel comfortable being on the boat for the period of time.

How do I join? Register by getting a ticket from this page (click 'add to bag' in the top right hand corner and enter your details)

Please note:

  1. Attendees must bring ID.
  2. Gig Buddies staff will be in attendance, but will not be on hand to provide individual support.
  3. Getting there: Transport to and from the venue is not supplied. Attendees are responsible for making their own way to and from the venue.
  4. Getting home: Gig Buddies staff may help attendees with catching public transport, taxis or Ubers home - up until 30 minutes after the scheduled end; Gig Buddies staff are unable to assist attendees who remain at the venue beyond this time.
  5. Attendees do not need to be paired with a gig buddy to join us. All signed up participants with a current service agreement or volunteers who have completed compliance are welcome to join us.
  6. COVID-19: If you’re feeling unwell we ask that you do not attend.
  7. Participants who require extra support must let the Gig Buddies team know if they will be bringing along a support worker or family member to an event. Thank you.
